Strictly Come Dancing is back for its 20th year, and the stakes could not be any higher for the BBC’s most popular reality show. The dancing competition has been beset with scandal ever since Ellie Leach was crowned champion of last year’s show, with allegations of mistreatment behind the scenes rocking the show’s squeaky clean image
Professional dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima have both left the show, and the former rejects all allegations against him. As an internal investigation rumbles on, the show must go on, and 14 new celebrities will battle it out between now and Christmas as they hope to win the coveted Glitterball trophy.
The launch show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, will introduce the new celebrities to their professional dance partners giving viewers their first look at the runners and riders for this year’s competition, as well as paying tribute to returning dancer Amy Dowden following her treatment for cancer.
