The Houston Rockets and guard Jalen Green have agreed to a three-year, $106-million extension to his rookie contract, ESPN’s Shams Charania reports, citing Green’s CAA agents.

The deal will include a third-year player option, according to the report.

Green, 22, is approaching his fourth NBA season. The Rockets selected Green with the No. 2 pick in the 2021 draft after the Detroit Pistons selected Cade Cunningham first overall.

A 6-4 guard, Greene has averaged 19.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 42.1% from the field and 33.7% from 3-point distance in three NBA seasons. He initially signed a four-year, $40.8 million contract as a rookie.

Green is a key member of a young Rockets court also featuring Jabari Smith Jr, Alpernen Sengun and rookie Reed Sheppard, all of whom are younger than 23. This is a breaking story that will be updated.
