The Los Angeles Rams got a lot of praise for signing receiver Davante Adams, but another one of their free agency moves is getting some acclaim for different reasons.
FOX Sports’ Eric Williams named the Poona Ford deal as one of the 10 most underrated moves of the 2025 free agency period. Ford’s two-year deal with $15.6 million guaranteed is solid for a starting nose tackle, but Williams liked that the Rams resolved the biggest need on their young defensive line as they compete for a title this yea.r
“Los Angeles boasts one of the better young defensive lines in the league, featuring Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner and Byron Young. However, the Rams struggled to stop Saquon Barkley and James Conner last season,” Williams wrote. Bringing in Ford, a proven run-stuffer who can also create an interior pass rush, should fix one of the few glaring needs for a team that believes it can compete for a Super Bowl. And the Rams got Ford at a decent number considering the skyrocketing defensive tackle market in free agency.”
One former Rams player already compared Ford to legend Aaron Donald and ex-Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce admitted he “hated” lining up against Ford.
This was always seen as a good signing, but now the addition of Ford is earning much-deserved adoration because of how little the Rams spent to address a serious issue.
