A “one-of-a kind” City of London skyscraper has taken Multiplex to the top of the monthly contracts league for the second time in a year.
The £480m Fifty Fenchurch Street contract makes the Australian multinational the highest-winning contractor in June, according to data provider Glenigan. Standing 36-storeys high, the tower (pictured) will be the latest high-ticket office building in an increasingly crowded Square Mile.
Multiplex also took the top spot last September after bagging two London jobs worth a combined £650m.
The firm raked in more than twice as much as this month’s silver medallist, Bowmer & Kirkland. The family-run contractor had a magical month, winning the £189m job to expand Warner Bros’ Leavesden studios, which hosts a popular Harry Potter tourist attraction. Bowmer & Kirkland bagged two other deals worth a combined £42m, taking its monthly total to £231m.
Balfour Beatty also had a bumper month, racking up three contract awards worth £204m in total, while last month’s league topper John Sisk & Son dropped out of the top fifty.

Last year’s overall league table conqueror Morgan Sindall was the most profilic contract-winner in June, inking 22 new deals including a £90m fit-out job for One Leadenhall, another massive London tower job currently being built by Multiplex. The contractor rose one place in the monthly table to sit in the fifth spot, having been awarded four more contracts than last month’s tally of 18.
Laing O’Rourke’s £190m Calderdale Hospital project parachuted it into fourth place. Although the contractor was appointed as preferred partner on the scheme in March, it secured the main construction contract only last month. Laing O’Rourke, which this month saw long-term chief executive Ray O’Rourke step down to make way for son Cathal, will build a four-storey clinical building housing a new accident and emergency department at the West Yorkshire health hub.
Top-1o newcomer Faithdean took seventh place after it was confirmed on the £130m project to renovate Fenwick’s central London flagship on New Bond Street.
Having closed earlier this year after a 130-year stint in one of London’s prime shopping districts, the former department store will be transformed into a mixed-use scheme anchored by high-grade offices. Faithdean will lead the complex refurbishment project, which involves partial demolition.

Multiplex’s big month pushed it four spots up the annual table, replacing Royal Bam in second place. Since July 2023, the contractor has won five jobs worth a total £1.53bn.
Morgan Sindall remains ahead of all other contractors, both in terms of value and number of contracts won. Since July it has signed 285 deals worth a total of £2.55bn – £1bn more than its closest rival.
The same 10 contractors make up the annual league table as last month, although Royal Bam and Galliford Try have both dropped four places. ISG has climbed one spot to take fourth and Bouygues UK three places to sit in fifth.
