Live updates: Dolphins trying to salvage their season vs. Rams

The Los Angeles Rams decided not to make any blockbuster moves at the trade deadline, despite some chatter around possibly moving Matthew Stafford and reportedly shopping Cooper Kupp. The 4-4 Rams entered Week 10 second in the NFC West and are looking to stay connected to the Arizona Cardinals with the Miami Dolphins in town. Kyren Williams has been a red-zone focal point for the Rams this season, ranking third in the NFL with eight rushing touchdowns despite Los Angeles ranking 26th in rushing yards per game.

The 2-6 Dolphins, who got Tua Tagovailoa back two weeks ago, have looked significantly better on offense since his return but have yet to find a win after close losses to Buffalo and Arizona. Tagovailoa was very sharp against the Bills, going 25-of-28 for 231 yards and two touchdowns as he works his way back from a concussion he suffered in Week 2.

Tua throws pick, leans head first for tackle on return

Tua Tagovailoa just threw an interception to Rams linebacker Christian Rozeboom on an ill-advised pass over the middle. Nearly making matters worse, he leaned head first in an attempt to make a tackle on the return.

He’s looks OK, but another dangerous play given his concussion history. Just let him go.

Defenses dominating after early Dolphins TD

Now it’s the Rams’ turn for a stop. They force a punt after a 16-yard Dolphins drive to get the ball back. Both defenses have been smothering since Miami’s quick-strike opening-drive touchdown. Can the Rams get something going on offense? Miami leads, 7-0.

Another three-and-out for the Rams offense. Dolphins defenders swarm Matthew Stafford on third down, and Chop Robinson comes up with a drive-ending sack. Rams can’t capitalize after starting their drive near midfield.

Late injury note for the Rams. Backup cornerback Charles Woods may not be available after injuring his ankle in warmups.

We’re moments from kickoff. Two teams whose seasons were derailed early by injury are almost ready to take the field.

The 4-4 Rams have bounced back and are relatively healthy with a shot at the postseason. Is it too late for the 2-6 Dolphins in an AFC where the last playoff spot could end up being claimed by a team with a losing record?
