Government offers redundancy pay for ISG staff

The government has said it will do “all it can” to support those affected by ISG’s collapse as it offers redundancy pay for former ISG staff.

In a statement today (24 September) on its website, the Insolvency Service said those who worked under an employment contract for any of the eight ISG companies in administration can apply for redundancy payments.

Eligible staff members may be entitled to statutory redundancy pay, pay arrears, compensatory notice pay and holiday pay.

The firms covered by the announcement are: ISG Central Services Ltd, ISG Engineering Services Ltd, ISG Construction Ltd, ISG Jackson Ltd, ISG Interior Services Group UK Ltd, ISG Fit Out Ltd, ISG UK Retail Ltd and ISG Retail Ltd.

The website said: “This will be a worrying time for employees, as well as their customers and suppliers. Government will do all it can to support them.”

Those classed as workers and self-employed contractors are not eligible for statutory redundancy pay. The Insolvency Service encouraged ineligible workers to contact administrator Ernst & Young (EY) to register as a creditor.

Around 2,200 staff were made immediately redundant when the UK’s sixth-biggest contractor went into administration last week, with another 200 roles expected to go when the administration process is completed.

To apply for redundancy payments, dismissed employees should email isgemployees@uk.ey.com to receive a case reference number, before applying online through the government website.

The Insolvency service said it aims to pay eligible claims within six weeks of receiving the application.
