Balestrini named PSAC Player of the Week


Lock Haven freshman Blaire Balestrini was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week in softball after helping the Eagles go 4-0.

The freshman from Shikellamy hit .600 over four games, going 9-for-15 with four home runs, two doubles and a triple. She also drove in nine and scored seven times for Lock Haven.

Balestrini hit three home runs on Sunday in the sweep of Millersville, including two in the game two victory.

In the sweep over Mansfield, Balestrini finished 6-for-7 with a grand slam, a triple, two doubles, four runs scored and five RBIs.

In 32 games this year — all starts — Balestrini leads Lock Haven with a .369 batting average. Her 38 hits are 10 more than any other player on the team. She also leads the Eagles in doubles (7), triples (3), home runs (7), runs (23) and RBIs (23).

As a freshman, Balestrini is currently tied for fourth in the PSAC with seven home runs.
