Alumni returns to save Benoit Saint-Denis' UFC 315 bout in Montreal

A lightweight who departed the promotion in 2019 is back on the roster to save a UFC 315 bout Saturday in Montreal.

Monday following a report from Sportsnet’s Aaron Bronsteter, the UFC confirmed Kyle Prepolec has stepped in on less than one week’s notice, replacing Joel Alvarez against Benoit Saint Denis.

Prepolec (18-8 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has gone 4-1 since his two-fight UFC stint in 2019, during which he lost to Nordine Taleb and Austin Hubbard. Prepolec was expected to headline Samourai MMA 14 in Montreal on Friday, the night prior to UFC 315 at Bell Centre.

Saint Denis (13-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) aims to snap a two-fight skid that includes defeats to Dustin Poirier and Renato Moicano.

With the change, the UFC 315 lineup includes:
