Wessex Water appoints 45 firms to minor M&E works framework

Wessex Water has named 45 contractors to a framework agreement covering mechanical and electrical (M&E) minor works across its operational region.

The agreement supports the delivery of the company’s AMP8 capital investment programme and is split into three lots covering M&E minor works, small electrical works and small mechanical works. The initial term is five years, with the option of a three-year extension.

Work under the framework includes pump and booster station upgrades, pipework and control panel installations, generator maintenance, temporary works, decommissioning and reactive repair. Incidental civil engineering may also be required.

The framework was procured through the negotiated procedure with prior call for competition, Wessex Water said in a 2 May notice.

Lot 1 covers combined mechanical and electrical works, and comprises 20 suppliers. These include Barnfield Engineering Services, Bridges Electrical Engineers, Integrated Water Services, and Xylem Water Solutions UK. Most of the appointed companies are small and medium-sized enterprises.

Lot 2 covers small electrical works. Eighteen companies have been appointed, including DMS Engineering, Pro Electro, and Total Automated Solutions. Mildren Construction is the only non-SME in this lot.

Lot 3, for small mechanical works, includes 11 firms. Contractors such as Edrón Engineering, Mills Engineering Services and Pump Supplies feature among the suppliers. One contractor, Nightjar Engineering and Construction, is not an SME.

Wessex Water has not disclosed the total value of the framework.
