2025 mock draft: Rams take controversial WR with No. 26 pick

The Los Angeles Rams are all-in on competing in 2025 and could add to their push with a stellar draft class.

After two consecutive drafts focused on defense, the Rams could turn to the offensive side of the ball to capitalize on Matthew Stafford’s shrinking career window. While the team already has two starting receivers in Davante Adams and Puka Nacua, receiver wouldn’t be a bad option for the No. 26 pick if the right player falls to them.

The Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer thinks the Rams will go down the receiver pipeline with their first-round pick and selected Missouri’s Luther Burden for L.A.

“The Rams need to think about replacing Cooper Kupp inside after adding Davante Adams to help Puka Nacua as another dangerous target outside through the red zone,” Iyer wrote. “Burden is an absolute technician and can end up being another coup in the slot for Sean McVay.”

Burden stands at 6-feet tall and weighs 206 pounds — which is a very similar build to Kupp. He finished with just 61 receptions for 676 yards and six touchdowns in 2024 after putting up 86 receptions for 1,212 yards and nine scores in 2023.

Coincidentally, Burden’s preferred route tree is eerily similar to the Rams’ most-run routes from 2024. And with Adams in tow, the Rams need a guy who can fill Kupp’s role. A third receiver isn’t necessary, but adding someone like Burden to the lineup gives Stafford an extra weapon to utilize as the Rams look to get back to the Super Bowl.
